About this experience

The shoe and tanning industry in León has been part of our main productive activities throughout our history. They have been present in León since the first years of its foundation in 1576. Throughout the colonial era and still well into the nineteenth century, tanning depended on the production of saddlery, corambrería and the production of huaraches. Mining and fieldwork required many leather items. Gradually, and specifically at the end of the last century, the transformation and production of leather were oriented to the demands of the shoe industry that forced its development and modernization, especially since 1940 when León put on Mexico.
